ACCESSIBILITY

We want everyone to be able to use this site — including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or a phone in bright sunlight on the way to a concert.

What we've done

• Every colour combination on the site has been measured against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast standard rather than eyeballed.
• The whole site works by keyboard. There's a skip link to jump past the navigation, and focus is always visible.
• It works without JavaScript. Concert dates, the honours record and the page content are all readable if scripts don't run.
• Text resizes without breaking the layout, and the site reflows down to a narrow phone screen without side-scrolling.
• Headings are in a real order, so a screen reader can navigate by them.
• Nothing moves or animates for anyone who has asked their device to reduce motion. The rotating quotes stop entirely.
• Decorative images are hidden from screen readers rather than announced as meaningless filenames.

Where we currently fall short

An honest list is more use than a claim of perfection.

• On the What's On page, hovering a poster reveals extra detail. On a touch screen there is no hover, so that detail is shown in the caption underneath instead — but the two aren't identical.
• The concert reel on the homepage can be dragged with a mouse. It can also be scrolled by keyboard, but the drag itself has no keyboard equivalent.
• Some photographs carry brief alternative text where a fuller description would serve better.
• Concert posters are supplied as artwork. Where a poster carries information that appears nowhere else, that's a barrier — so date, venue and ticket details are always repeated as real text beneath.
