Buying a ticket

TICKET TERMS

Short, and in plain English. These apply when you buy a ticket to one of our own concerts through this website.

Who you are buying from

Tickets bought on this site are sold by Virtuosi GUS Band, a charitable incorporated organisation registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, charity number 1170993. We perform and trade as The GUS Band.

Registered address: 52 Pytchley Road, Kettering NN15 6JA.
Email: enquiries@gus.band

Some concerts we appear at are ticketed by somebody else — a theatre, a festival or a contest organiser. Where that is the case, What's On sends you to their box office and their terms apply, not these. You can always tell which is which: our own tickets are bought without leaving this website.

When the contract starts

Choosing tickets holds them for fifteen minutes while you pay. The contract between us begins when your payment succeeds and we send your confirmation email. If that email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your junk folder and then tell us — do not buy again, or you may pay twice.

The price you see is the price you pay. There is no booking fee, no service charge and nothing added at the last step. We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged.

Paying

Payments are handled by Stripe on their own secure pages. Your card number is never sent to us and we never see or store it. We keep your name, email address, what you bought and whether you have been let in at the door.

Your right to change your mind

The law gives you fourteen days to cancel most things bought online. That right does not apply to tickets for an event on a set date — concerts, theatre and the like are excluded by regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. We are telling you this before you pay because we are required to.

What we offer instead is set out below, and it is more generous than the law requires.

Refunds and changes

  • Ask at least seven days before the concert and we will refund you in full, no reason needed. Email us with the reference on your ticket.
  • Inside seven days we cannot refund, because the seat is unlikely to sell again in time. We will move you to another GUS Band concert of the same value if you would like, subject to space.
  • If you don't come and haven't told us, we cannot refund afterwards.
  • Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within five working days.

We are a charity run by volunteers, and we would rather be kind than clever. If something has happened — illness, a bereavement, a family emergency — please just tell us. We will do what we reasonably can.

If we cancel or change a concert

If we cancel, or move a concert to another date or venue, you get a full refund if you want one — you do not have to ask twice and there is no deadline. If a concert goes ahead but the programme or the players change, the ticket still stands: brass bands are made of people, and people are occasionally ill.

We cannot refund travel, parking, accommodation or anything else you spent getting to us.

Getting in

  • Bring your ticket on your phone or printed. We scan the QR code, or you can read out the six-character code underneath it.
  • Each ticket admits one person once. Please don't forward the same ticket to two people — the second one to arrive will be turned away.
  • Doors and start times are on the ticket. If you arrive late we will seat you at a suitable break, which may not be immediately.
  • Under-16s go free where a concert says so, but still need a ticket so we know how many seats to keep. An adult must come with them.
  • Concessions are offered in good faith. We don't ask for proof.

Access

Tell us what you need and we will sort it out — wheelchair spaces, a seat near the front, somewhere quieter, or a free ticket for someone supporting you. Email enquiries@gus.band before you book if you can, so we can check the venue rather than guess. Many of the halls we play in are old buildings and not all of them are step-free; we would rather tell you honestly beforehand than have you find out on the night.

Photography and filming

We sometimes photograph or film our own concerts for the website and social media. If you would rather not appear, tell a steward on the night and we will keep you out of shot. Audience filming of the performance is not permitted, though a photograph for your own use is fine.

Behaviour

We can refuse entry, or ask someone to leave, if their behaviour puts others at risk or spoils the concert for them. In that case there is no refund. This has essentially never happened and we do not expect it to.

Reselling

Please don't resell our tickets for profit. Passing one to a friend at face value is entirely fine — you don't need to tell us, though it helps if you do.

Your information

What we collect and how long we keep it is set out on our privacy page. In short: your details are used to send your ticket, to let you in, and for nothing else. We do not sell them and we do not pass them on.

If something goes wrong

Email enquiries@gus.band and a real person will read it. We aim to reply within five days. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and if we can't sort something out between us you can still go to court. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
