Virtuosi GUS Band — the registered charity behind the band you know as The GUS Band, charity number 1170993, of 52 Pytchley Road, Kettering NN15 6JA — is the data controller for this website. If you have any question about how we handle your information, write to enquiries@gus.band and a person will read it.

What we collect, and why

Only what you type into a form, and only for the reason you typed it.

Booking enquiries: Your name, email address, and whatever you tell us about your event. We use it to reply to you and to plan the engagement. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest — you asked us about a booking, so we answer.
The mailing list: Your email address, nothing else. We use it to tell you when a record is released. Our lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link on every message.
Tickets: Your name, email address, a phone number if you give one, and what you bought. We need these to send your ticket and to let you in at the door, so our lawful basis is performing the contract you entered into when you paid. On the night, the door list — names and ticket codes for that one concert — is downloaded onto a steward's phone so it works without a signal, and is cleared from it afterwards.

What we don't do

This site sets no cookies. Nobody is tracked across it or between visits, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
We count how many times each page is read: a number against a page, an hour and a day. Nothing is stored that could say who read it — no address and no identifier of any kind — so those numbers cannot be turned back into a person, including by us. Alongside the count we keep the name of the site a visitor arrived from, such as facebook.com, and one of three words for what it was read on — phone, tablet or computer. Nothing more specific than that word is kept about anybody's device, and nothing else at all about how they got here.
We also count presses, in the same way and with the same limits: that somebody pressed Tickets, sent the Book Us enquiry, played a track, added our dates to a calendar, went to one of our social pages, started an email, tapped the phone number, or followed a link off the site. It is a number against one of those eight descriptions and the page it happened on — never who, and never anything you typed. The enquiry form's contents are a separate matter and are covered above.
If you ask for a page this site doesn't have, we keep the address you asked for — and only the address, with anything after a question mark removed before it is stored. It is how we find out that an old link or a printed poster points somewhere that has moved. At most fifty different ones are kept in a day.
We never sell, rent or share your details for marketing.
We don't build profiles or make automated decisions about you.

Other people's services

Some parts of the site hand you to somebody else, and once you're there their privacy policy governs what happens:

Stripe takes the payment when you buy a ticket from us. You type your card into Stripe's own page, not ours — we never see or store the number. We keep your name, email address and what you bought, so we can send the ticket and let you in at the door.
YouTube hosts our films. Watching one is a visit to YouTube, and Google may set cookies accordingly.
Some dates are ticketed by somebody else — contest organisers such as Kapitol Promotions and The Glasshouse, and venues selling their own shows. Those links open in a new tab and what happens next is covered by their policy, not this one.

How long we keep it

Booking enquiries are kept for three years, because promoters often come back to us and the history is useful to both sides. Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, and removed promptly when you do. Ticket orders are kept for six years after the concert, because as a charity we have to be able to show our accounts add up.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to enquiries@gus.band and we will respond within one month.

If you think we've handled your information badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd rather you told us first so we can put it right.
